Button Quail Balled up and Seemingly in Pain

So, I have recently run into a medical emergency with one of my female button quail. Yesterday, I noticed that she started to sit in a fluffed and balled up position with her eyes closed. She doesn't move or react to the other birds when she's sitting like this. Almost like she was in pain or at least uncomfortable. She was also trembling slightly, but they are so small that when they sit still just breathing causes them to tremble slightly, so it could be unrelated. I felt and examined her entire underside, vent, and whole body and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. However, she's so tiny and I don't exactly know what I'm looking for, so it's highly likely I missed something. When I added food to their bowl she ran over and ate with no issues and she jumped up on a 6" tall ledge for treats with no problems. However, after she was done eating she chose a spot in the cage and resumed her balled up position.

Today, I noticed that she is now having trouble walking and running. She is very off balance and trips and falls onto her right side while trying to move. She can still get to her food, water, and favorite basking spot but is still tripping and off balance as she moves. She also is only opening her eyes about halfway in between her breathing in her balled up position. The only other change in health since this started that I have noticed is the area right above her beak is more scruffy. Like she has less feathers and the area is more reddish.

I don't know if she has laid any eggs in the past 2 days (she's in a coop with other females). She is indoors so she has very limited exposure to disease/parasites. She is 2 years old now, but was perfectly healthy just 2 days prior. She has never displayed these symptoms before and I haven't seen them in any of my other birds. The only other recent change I have noticed is that lately one of my females is laying blue eggs with incredibly thin and fragile shells. She is with other females, so I can't guarantee who is laying them. Aside from egg complications or nutritional deficiencies, I don't know what the issue might be, or even how to address it. She's so small that I am limited to what I can do to help, but would be open to any advice and ideas! Thanks!

Are they getting regular calcium on the side? It sounds like she may be egg bound, in which case, she need treatment ASAP.

This would be easier to diagnose if you could tell me if she's laying or at least pooping.

Can you post pics?
What are you feeding them?

If you think she's egg bound, start with a warm epsom salt bath and get some calcium citrate into her.

We tried treatment for egg bound via baths and massages and had no result. Where she has made it thus far and the treatments have not worked, I don't think being egg bound is the issue, as even chickens rarely make it past 24-48 hours with that. We've also done mineral/nutritional and calcium supplements in her water with no change.

I don't provide additional calcium on the side for them, because they are so small, they are very limited to how much they can have and too much will cause other health problems, especially for the males. They've also completely disregarded any form I've attempted to give them including cuttlebone and oyster shell. They get all flock 20% protein crumble feed, as it is all that is available in my area. They also get fresh foods (fruits, vegetables, etc.), millet, and seeds daily as well. I've never had nutritional problems with them before (been raising for 5 years) and never had any symptoms or signs they are deficient.

As stated in the original post, she is pooping in the form of diarrhea and I do not know if she is laying. I have tried several times to upload photos, but every time the website says "security error, please go back and reload."

I missed the poop. That means she's not egg bound. In my experience, calcium is critical for buttons more than coturnix, but it varies from individual to individual, and might vary depending on the line.

Is a vet an option?

I forgot to ask how old she is. If she's over 3 years old, it could be age related. Fluffled up and lethargic definitely means she's not feeling well, but if there are no other symptoms other than runny poop, it's pretty hard to diagnose without running tests.

No worries. That was my thought, too, especially since the treatment didn't result in anything. I know calcium is important, but I just haven't been able to interest them in it. They won't have anything to do with cuttlebone after the first few minutes, and they don't want oyster shell since it's mostly powder and they can't fit the larger pieces in their mouths. I also know that, for buttons especially due to their size, too much calcium at one time can lead to death and other health issues. I've never had problems with eggshells being fragile or anything else until this point, so I've never really pushed it. However, it does lead me to believe something else internally is going on and this is the culmination.

I've called all the vets in my area, but none of them work on anything this small or know anything of value. She's just barely 2, so still young, but I've had several females die of complications before, so I know anything can happen at any time. She's definitely not feeling well, but I have no idea at this point what the issue is or how to help. I've tried every treatment that I can, but I'm afraid that's all I can do. Her flock has been wonderful at keeping her company and being kind to her, so I'll just have to keep trying what I can and see what happens. (I decided not to keep her separated any longer since what she has clearly isn't viral and I figured I'd rather have her go surrounded by her family and loved than in a cage alone).

Thank you for all your help and advice, I appreciate more than I can say
