He definitely is a slightly different mutation from mine but Idk what.
As far as my pair they really are so sweet with each other now and have really bonded. Grover is always preening Annie. He comes scurrying to the door when he sees me now expecting a mealworm, will take it from my fingers and then goes up to her and actually gives her all of his treats be they hemp seeds or mealworms and now won't eat a single thing until she's so stuffed she won't eat any more. He'll just keep taking them and running them to her. He's so considerate and generous! I've never had a bird that did that.
I dont think so. He molted out of all of that and is red breasted blue now. Was still really young there.
I looked it up. Mine blue breasted. So that is why mine is a bit different.
I just found two eggs laid in a little nest of hay in the wooden box in the quail cage.
How fun!
I blow mine out and save them for crafts. Do you save yours?
My hen always makes nests and lays in the same areas but she hasnt tried to sit yet. She is about 6 months old now. I wont let my chicken hens even try til theyre at least 1 year and am applying the same rule to the quailie. id love to see her hatch a great many eggs over her lifetime. I wonder if its like chickens and the first few wks of eggs arent fertile anyway. You know if u crack em you can see? Have u ever candled an egg before? I had set 2 doz of my wyandottes eggs in spring this year and got 2 chicks for all our eggsill be making deviled eggs for this sunday and including about a dozen buttons
