Heya!
I've already read the above sticky post on spraddles, but I had a question. I line my incubator with that sticky, grippy, puffy shelf-liner so they have awesome traction from the word go, and I use paper towels in my brooder that are super-ridged, and have great grip. Never had a lick of trouble with chicks.
6 button quail hatched out yesterday.
One in particular made me question if he's spraddle or not, since he looks like a classic picture of it when he's sleeping or resting. But he doesn't have any trouble getting them under him to scurry off, and then he sprawls out again when he stops.
There's 2 others that are acting similar, and I'm not sure if it's spraddle or sprawling. I've always understood spraddle-leg as them not really being able to walk at all. These guys can just fine, they just sprawl out everywhere when they stop.
