What type of substrate do you recommend for raising buttons ?

I currently have them on the non-skid rubber drawer liner material. First batch are 6 days old, second batch are 3 days old.

Then I have another problem ............

I cann't stop watching the babies

Some-one should have warned me they were so entertaining

I actually have mine on pine shavings from the time they hatch. I haven't had any problems with it being toxic. I just put the shelf liner under the shavings so they don't slide around, I use plastic totes as brooders, and they are pretty slick!!

My adults are in two seperate cages, actually it's one cage divided, top and bottom. The top cage has shelf liner on the wire, the bottom has nothing but pine shavings. I'm in the process of making a new cage, which will have pine shaving bedding on top of sheet wood.
