Button quail in Florida?

Hey I am in North Florida but I go to Ocala all the time. I have adult Buttons that are laying now. I dont ship but I can meet you. I have about 10-20 that I am selling because I have to many breeders now they are about 12 weeks old & I have lots of colors. If you are interested just let me know. I sell the adults for 5.00 each if you buy over 10 I can cut a better deal. Thanks

Bitty Girl......Ocala seems far for me to travel but it may be worth it if I buy 10+. Where at in Ocala do you go. Im not familiar with the area. I know I95 and thats about it. I know Umatilla and Sanford area. Let me know! I have nothing as of yet to cage them in and still looking for something inexpensive to house them in for breeding. Do you have them in a colony or divided up in trios or what not?

She meets at my house all the time! lol That's our mini meet every saturday just about. I'm 5 miles from I-75 off exit # 358 in ocala. Or you can cut across from I-95 using 192 to the turnpike or a little farther north and take 528 across to the turnpike.

The turnpike takes you right to I75 then.....I am right at I-95 and 192. Every Saturday...huh! I may be able to take a day ride! Would be fun to get out of the house for the day. May not be this weekend.....Possible next or after. I will have to see what goes on this weekend. Thanks for the exit number...I will try to map it and see how far it is.

WOW! A whole conversation w/out me in it. lol. I can get w/this. Well yeah I am a fixture on Saturdays at her house! She is my stop point.

I can meet you there almost any Saturday this month.

Oh yeah & the answer to your question is I at the moment am colony breeding. Because I ran out of pen space! But you will have better results w/smaller colonys--Also dont get aquariums they are awful to have to clean when they start smelling & you have to disturb the nests--Do the outside thing w/the small wire mesh w/ little nests in them. That way everything falls through & you dont have to disturb them. They breed better that way rather than the trying to do the tubs or aquariums that is okay for a little while but I took a breeder chinchilla cage & started housing them in that & its GREAT! Lots easier than anything else I have tried--I even tried the bird cages but the bars are to far apart & it hurts their feet after a while & the stick their little legs down on the pans below then when you go to clean it & it scares them & you have more legs than eyes you will injure one--I speak from experience I felt so bad--But she lived & she still produces eggs. But I didnt think she was gonna make it that first week. Any more questions??I am hapy to answer them.

Do you ever sell at the Central Florida Bird Fair in Orlando http://www.exoticbirdexpos.info/FL.shtml ? They have sales I think every 3 or 4 months.......I went to the one in February and they have tons of birds and I did see some buttons there. I think only 1 person had them. I bought a few birds from there. Not buttons....just canaries and finches. The next one is June 8th 9am-4pm...Im not sure if I really want to travel to Ocala...Its a haul for me....But its not out of the question because I know you do it every Saturday and I can do it whenever I can get out of the house....As for breeding...I was hoping to incubate the eggs, sell the chicks and sell fertile eggs no shipping. But the wire cage method seems the best. I found a site that does the cloroplast and cubes cages. I made those when I had guinea pigs. I thought the little squares were alittle large but it would work as long as the cloroplast was tall enough.

Well its up to you. I will ask poison Ivey where we are going this weekend it may be closer for you. I have never been there so it may be on the way. I will try to let you know.
