They can't just have a diet of finch seeds, as Serin and Nabiki have mentioned, growing chicks need more protein. I give my quail chicks game bird starter which has 28% protein. Are you able to get game bird starter?

Mine grew well on 24% gamebird crumble, I only introduced very small amounts of seed closer to 12-14 days old and then mealworms in the past week.

I use the 28% because that is the only game bird starter I can get. When they are adults, I move to game bird finisher (22%). They grow well and are healthy birds.

yes i just ordered some game bird starter with 24% protein

to keep them alive until then no more bird seed. Feed them a crumbly mixture of hard boiled egg and baby cereal.
