Button quail late hatch

That's good. This morning, I had around 49%, which I think is good.

I've taken to rolling them when I turn them, but I'm concerned as to whether or not they actually turn, since they're so small, they often roll back to their original position.

Well I hope they turn cause I roll them too!

Anyway, I've been considering this:

When the eggs hatch, I plan to separate one or two and keep them in different containers, raising them strictly to be pets. I plan to handle them regularly and occasionally put them with the others to avoid any difficulties in the future.
I want to handle them as often as they/my time will allow so to avoid having problems with them being lonely.

In general, I want all of them to be decently tame.

What do you all think?

If you put them in a pen that is unfamiliar to your pets, yet familiar to the "others" your pets will likely be assaulted as the "newcomers".

it wont matter if you keep them in pairs ore single on the temperament That said they need to be in pairs. You can try handling them everyday to get them used to you but it works just as well to talk to them and just let them get used to your hand in the enclosure. I hate to handle mine and only do so if I really need to. I even leave them in the enclosure when I clean it, they just go to the side I am not cleaning and wait for the fresh sand and food...spoiled little buggers! Any way buttons are not generally hand pets but make cute caged pets just like most other small birds. Good Luck.

Ah, thanks you two :D

I know most people do not keep them as hand tame pets, but I know of people who do have really tame quail, and I'd like to try for that. Even if it doesn't work out, I'll be okay with leaving them alone the way I did with my budgies :)

Okay, day 7 and all is well. I changed the way I turn the eggs to the way I did it originally: turning them individually about 1/3.

How is it for you, Bunnybuns? What day are you on?

Oh gosh everything has been going wrong for me I'm on day 9 and woke up to find out the humidity was only 17%! and temp 97! I left the vent plugs off during the night cause it was getting hot in there I have done that before and this has never happened I'm so worried none will hatch!

Do you guys think any of them have a chance. :(

day 8 is still pretty early so you should be fine just be careful and can I ask why you opened the vents? if the heat is too high you should adjust the temp or adjust the room temp.. It is hard to keep the temps always the same, the air temp in the room will effect the incubator as well. just be extra careful. Good Luck.
