So one of my little button quail managed to get her toe tangled with a single hair. Apparently the hair cut into the toe, didn't realize this at first. Friday it happened, Saturday she was limping, Sunday it was redish (didn't look swollen rather like she had picked at it). Had stopped limping. She was doing the fluffed up I don't entirely feel well look earlier, but acts active and alert when I have her out(mom rejectedher on day one and failed to hatch others so she gets lots of interaction time.) Today the skin near the foot looks a bit Grey (pictures attached)

She is just under 2months old and still being fed medicated gamebird starter.
She is still eating and drinking.

Does she need an emergency vet visit or am I worrying about nothing?

it kinda looks like the toe is dying, how long was circulation to the toe cut off for?
Honestly not sure how long. I am positive that it is less than 24hrs, probably less than 10 since I didn't notice anything that morning, but any point in the day while at work/errands it could have happened. It was only slightly discolored when the hair was on it and the color came back immediately when the hair was removed, but obviously some damage was done.

I think the toe is dying from the lack of blood flow to it. if the color continues to darken till it's basically black, I'd say it's a safe bet that it's dying and will either need to be removed or will fall off. I'd probably have a vet look at it just in case if you want to be on the safe side
