I just cant cage 19 button quail if they need to be in pairs so I am gonna get rid of about 10 of them.
It would be pick up only. These are free to a good home .

Wish you were closer !!!!
Buttons are the best

Got any trips planned south along I5 coming up ?

You don't have to have them in pairs, that is just what is recommended. I had 16 total to start with, with only 2 cages. 8 buttons in each cage (4m, 4f, and 5m 3f).

If you have more females than males, you can put extra females with the males. Did I give you the bookcase cage specs? That would hold 10-14 pairs, more than enough for what you have!!

After all the time you spent on getting them, now you don't want them??

Its not that I dont want them but I thought that they could be in groups then people were saying pairs, Also after hatching only one and reading how difficult it can be to get them to hatch and survive I didnt know I would end up with 19 buttons lol, With a cage of chicken chicks a cage of cortunix the idea of 9 or so cages of buttons was overwhelming. If no one wants them Ill keep them in groups and not pairs , they are like 4 weeks old now Ill pst pics soon so people can help me sex them there pretty birds , even the normal wild ones are pretty , one is getting a naked butt though dont know whats up with that

Most of them you can tell the sex by the vent feather colors, though not all of them. Only males will get red/rust/pink colored vent feathers, but not all males will. But if you have any that have these colors on their vents, then at least you know they are boys. Most colors are sexable this way or by the color of the bird, except for the white one you have, and possibly the silvers. But this should give you a good idea as to how many males you have. The biggest problem with groups is that if you have more males than females (like I do) the females start getting bald heads and backs. I need some button quail saddles for my poor girls!

I'd love to have some of your extra buttons .
If any of your friends plan a trip south on I5 any time soon maybe we could arrange a meet somewhere in the middle

Hey I don't want to steal this thread but I have 5 females and one male and all of them including the male have large bald spots on their bodies I feed them good food boiled eggs clean water and they are in a 3 foot by 4 foot by 1 foot high cage with lots of space for each one. What's up with the bald spots?

The buttons are notorius for picking out eachothers feathers. They do this during mating and just to show eachother whos boss. When they are put in too close of quarters as well. It sounds like you feel they have plenty of room. Sometimes it is one bird that does the dominance picking and you can easily solve the problem by removing it. Just depends on who/how many are doing it. You can feed them the best foods containing high calcium and protiens but if there is a plucker amung them they will stay naked.
