I have a pair of Buttons! They are pretty skiddish if you get them grown like I did. But I think if you get babies you can tame them down some.
What to feed them: I feed mine Gamebird Crumbles, Parakeet food every now and then just for a treat. oh, and also Parakeet grit.
Nesting Boxes .. do I have to have one?: No, you don't have to have one. I have one for my female but she never uses it.
Bedding: I use Wood shavings.
Feeder/water .. what to use?: I use a parakeet feeder/water, can be used for feed or water. But I use it for water. You could get two and have one for feed and the other for water.
Do they take dust baths?: Yes, it helps keep their feathers clean, and they really enjoy it! Theres nothing cuter then watching them roll around and throw the sand on them selves!
Can I eat their eggs: Yes, but I just boil them and feed them back to the quail.
Housing: I have mine in a wood/wire cage. Nothing big or fancy.
Hope this answers some of your questions!
