Button Quail

Ill be getting some button quail eggs for hatching very soon, My incubator temp is 101 and the humidity level is at 50 is this ok for hatching the eggs. Ive been testing the bator for 2 weeks now and Ive been keeping the bator around these temps.

If your incubator is a still air (meaning no fan) then the temp is fine. The humidity is great for the first 14 days.
Most folks (including me) like to bump the humidity higher (70%+) for hatching, but others have good luck at around 50% the whole time.
You should be fine.


And...Yes, button quail are super-duper-wonderfully cute!

I do have a fan in the bator, Humm the eggs are coming this week Ill bump up the humidity level today when I get home from work, I still have 3 days to play with the bator.

I love my buttons, Im hooked on them for sure lol

She (I think) means to bump it up when you go into lockdown (right before they start hatching.)

If you have a fan, your temperature should be somewhere around 98.5 degrees

I concur, 101 is a tad high....
99.5-100 degrees is optimal...
I know many Quail Breeders that do not raise the humidity the last 2 days but simply maintain 55% throughout the 16 day hatch.
I plan on trying that come Spring or as soon as I re-home 50 or so buttons. lol
(Button hatching is addicting)

I hatched some coturnix last week that I had forgotten about. The humidity was not more than 35% the whole time, and most of the chicks hatched at 25% humidity

David I have to agree with you hatching buttons are addicting.!!! But as for me, I am not the greatest at hatching, to keep it simple, put my temp about 98 or some where there, and I have a still air incubator, and every now and then (at least once a day) I shake the incubator and exercise the eggs,

and after about 16 days or so out pops all these tiny buttons. No science to mine. Oh so much fun. And soooo cute....
