I recently built an enclosure for my 5 button quails that I am very happy with. I have 2 males and 3 females. My hope was that the enclosure would act as its own little ecosystem, where the poop and excess food would act as fertilizer for the plants. I also added compost worms to help with the breakdown, and to be extra snacks for the quail. The problem that I have run into, is that there is still to much poop, so I built an identical enclosure with the intent to separate them into one pair and one trio. After observing them to see which males and females enjoyed each others company the most, it seems they all really like one another’s company. My boys seem very fond of one another. So my question is, should i just separate them and they will adjust, or do i somehow connect the two enclosures to make one large one. Photos attached for reference.
Thanks in advance!
