button quails and sexing

I always presumed that the males could be identified by their crow. Ive just had a hen hatch out 4 chicks....and now she’s crowing ...

they make different types of crows depending on gender...

Both sexes have a loud call - like 'Peeew-peew-peeeew'. Males will sometimes do a low whistling kind of sound where they inflate their throat and look like feathered frogs, which females don't do. It doesn't sound like a crow, but I guess it's the closest buttons get to having a crow.
