I recently got a pair of button quail and would like to start breeding then. I was wondering about people's set up. Also what food is your favorite.

Lots of space (2x4 ft or more is my preferred size) and cover (spruce branches, faux plants, grasses), a sand bath and a corner with hay/straw under cover is a good start for happy buttons and they might even hatch their own chicks in such an enclosure.
With regards to feed, I use a game bird starter with around 24% protein.

Ok I got the hay and cover for them they seen to like. My female has started dropping eggs pretty much wherever. Is there a way to try to get her to lay in a consistent safe area. One was smashed another kinda half burried

A picture of your setup? That might help to point out things you could change to make her lay in one place. Usually it's a matter of giving them a good place to lay - something about the cover you gave them might not suit her.
Quite often they'll lay their eggs in strange places for a while, befor they decide on a good spot though.
I'm a bit worried about the broken egg - usually they are pretty tough, a broken egg could mean she lacks calcium. I give free choice chick sized crushed oyster shell in a separate container so the hens can take what they need.
