Now you all need to stop feeding into my quail habit

or we can just give in and send eggs and chicks to eatch other in a big quail love circle

Yay for a baby!! Leave it in there for up to 24 hours so it will talk the others out of their eggs. I did have one pine away and die for lack of companionship, but since you have those bantam eggs as well, you can put it in with them. Or put it in a box by itself, and put one of the bantams with it. That way it won't be all alone, and the other chicks won't mush it. But in a few days the button baby will be big enough to hold its own with the bantams, so then you could put them all together. Congrats on the baby!! I hope more hatch for you!

Thank you
I just moved him to his own little kritter keeper but I put it in with some chicks so he hears smells and sees them or what not but they cant mush him.

now just waiting ot see if any others hatch I bealve they are on day 19 now .

Day 20 now and no more buttons yet, Im pretty shure they wont hatch but there still in there anyways so you never know I guess, One of the banty eggs is peeping at me

I have a question about my baby button though , he seems to be pretty pathtic today ,
He seems bonded on my fingers if I put a finger in there he follows it around and stands or lays down by it . He seems to get cold pretty fast how can I holdhim and not get him to cold is my body heat ok , I finnly got him to eat and drink by playing with his food and water with my finger but he hasnt done it without me doing that that I have seen ,

Do you have any small chicken chicks around that you can put with him? Sounds like he is lonely. I really hope you get at least one more to hatch out.

ETA: He would be fine with your body heat, remember, normal body temp is 98.6, and baby quail like to be around 98 degrees the first few days, just close your hand around it and it will be fine.

I'm with Shelley, put him with chicken chicks if you have them. I've put day old buttons in with like 2 week old chicken chicks and 2 week old buttons and didn't have any major issues. It's actually really cute, the buttons will tuck themselves into the older/larger birds' wings and snuggle up.

Right now my brooder has week old coturnix, buttons (can't remember when they hatched) and like a 3 or 4 week old silkie mix chick, and they're all 100% fine.

ETA: Psst... MORE PICTURES!!! Lmao.

The only other chicks I have now are like 8 2 week old quail but there so much bigger then him and they are such ravenous beings I would hate to put him in there with then and have them eat him or something

Maybe just take one of the older quail chicks and put with the button baby? Then there might not be as much trouble. You can always mix and match until you find one that will get along with it.

*in my brooder*

3 BC marans chicks that will be 3 weeks old on tuesday
about 16, day old coturnix
2, 2 1/2 week old cochin bantams
1, almost 4 week old coturnix with a broken healing leg
4, almost 4 week old button quails
1, 2 day old Rhode island red chick
6, almost two week old coturnix
and some other coturnix around 2 weeks old as well

NO fighting, a bunch of snuggling and the young ones really really throughougly enjoy using the older ones as surrogate mothers
