I drafted a reply:
I do not ever mark boxes with 'Hatching Eggs' as this only seems to encourage mishandling by the USPS. Our postmaster also recommended against marking them as 'fragile' for the same reason. The post office do not store packages in different locations depending on their contents, if they did so they would be incredibly inefficient. They were sent Priority, as the 4"x8" label on the box indicated, and arrived in the time period expected. If that was not quick enough, Express shipping should have been purchased instead.
I mailed them in a timely manner and packaged them very well. There is only so much I can do, unfortunately controlling the weather is not one of those things. If they had arrived broken it would be another matter, but the freezing is not anything I could prevent. Perhaps in future it would be advisable to hold off ordering eggs until later in the season if you know the weather is going to be bad.
