Buying a coop

I scoop the poop out from under the roost every day. Five minute job. As aart said, unless someone has dropped a fresh cecal poop, there is no smell. I have lots of pine shavings and some hemp in the coop for bedding. I have added to the bedding, but not taken it all out yet. I probably will later this spring.

I'll be adding a poop board soon, not because I need to find a way to make it smell less, but to keep the bedding cleaner.

@aart here are pictures of the eaves.

My husbands concern with this one is it is too close to the house. He was worried about the smell of chicken poop, and asked me to “check with the chicken people” if it will be a problem. As I mentioned before it’s about 20 feet from the house.
Different people are more sensitive to certain smells than others. Just because it doesn't bother or matter to me doesn't mean that it won't cause the next person to become violently ill. He's made his feelings known. 20' from the house can also create a fly problem. That will drive me batty long before the smell will.
