Buying a flat screen TV - any recommendations?

Badly behaved kitty cats like to drag their claws down flat screens. Nice and cushy surface. Kind of like comp monitors.

Our Hitatchi is an HD unit and it was no trouble at all to set up. Of course, I didn't do it, but it was up and running in 15 minutes.

I used to listen to Tom Martino a lot and people were always calling in about problems with HD TV's. Turned out they needed a filter to clean the power source and eliminate spikes. That was a couple years ago, so the manufacturers may have better technology now with the filters built in to the set. Plus I'm sure the cable and satellite providers have better HD technology now.Just saying it's a good thing to ask the salesperson about. So Wally World is probably not the best place to get advice from.

All DH has to do is stand up and the Drow-bot hauls his 20 lb. butt elsewhere!

We bought two new TVs around Christmas time, because the deals were good. We did not buy top of the line, but decent TVs. The 32 inch is a Vizio and the 37 inch is a Panasonic. What we have found is that every time we buy a new TV the technology has improved so much that even a modest priced TV is a huge improvement over the last one we bought. I suspect you will find the same thing. Our TVs aren't big, but we don't have big rooms. The picture quality is better on the Panasonic, but even the other is much better than the old TV.

Good luck with your search.

My suggestion would to not get a flat screen.

The screen life is shorter than a standard tv.... they become dim.

Flat screen tv's are huge energy hogs.... if you leave a TV on all the time in the background... or when you sleep/ you might want to reconsider.

They are FRAGILE and EXPENSIVE.

I would go and buy a standard tv... they are dirt cheap and will last 15 years (and new ones have HD for your DH

I am sure there are many techies that are going to set me straight- I am old fashioned!

Hey Gritsy, could your DH get Drow-bot a job? What a team they'd make!
