Hey Gritsy, could your DH get Drow-bot a job? What a team they'd make!

Kitty has had one of those aimed at her head before, long story.

We got a Vizio about 18 months ago and have been very happy with it. We don't have cable, dish or an outside antenna but it has a great picture with just the rabbit ears.

We also have a 42' Vizio and have enjoyed it so far. Have had it about 8 months and got it for a really good price as well.

Does no good around here, when I take it away from the cat, the Lab gets it. Nearly shot me one day while I washed the dishes.

(you had to be there) I quit washing dishes.

Now I just sit and watch the cheapo, 3 year old Insignia, flat screen TV from the Best Buy sale, the one that works perfectly.

My mother and aunt had a Vizio, it sucks in picture quality and sound are not that great.

We are going to look for a nice flat screen TV too. Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, LG all looked like good picture quality. We have an old 28 inch Maganvox TV, that is already 13 years old but the TV programs are looking screwy on it, having black boxes on the sides for local channels and fine for other channels. Broadcasting companies are going HD big time. When we looked at the same measurement like our old TV, it was so much smaller! So we probably go for a 38 inch to 40 inch screen to match our old TV.

One bad thing is this, if you lost your TV remote, you're screwed when you do not have the controls to adjust from manually on the TV. Just great!

Alot of the stores are selling out plasma screens cheaply, too cheaply! But when I walk by, I could feel that "maganized" pull from the screens. Is it because the plasma screens are energy hogs? We want LED.

Standard TVs are getting harder to find. Only the very small college dorm type TV can be found.

Sony Bravia, we have a 42 in the Living Room and it is great, sound and picture are super. We just put an RCA on layaway for the bedroom, it has a good picture but won't know a real "review" until we get it home.

What's a PIP? On a chicken forum and all......

PIP is Picture In Picture it allows you to watch two channels as once. I often use it when the 11 o'clock news comes on and the basketball game I'm watching hasn't finished. Actually I now have PIP with my DishNet receiver so I can watch 2 different channels at once--although I haven't figured out why yet.

BTW, the refresh rate of the SONY is good--one of the other reasons I bought it. BTW we have 2 other 24" HD sets, a Polaroid and Vizio. The worst is the Vizio. Although the picture is alright the controls are terrible and it often does things on it's own that takes a lot of resetting to get right.

Actually not true. They have found the picture lasts a long time--have you notice those in places like airports that are on 24/7? The truth is no one really knows how long the picture quality lasts since no one has had them in use that long. What you hear are estimates that, in many cases, have proved wrong. BTW, I had a 42" Plasma TV for 5 years but it wouldn't accept HD so I gave it to my SIL who uses it as a computer/DVD monitor (they don't have TV service) and, after another 2 years, it is still going strong with a great picture. As far as energy hogs, look for one with the Energy Star label. I have found that after we switched out our old picture tube TV's for the new ones we are using less electricity. Also, I don't think they sell "standard" TV's any longer anyway.
