Buying Ducklings: What am I doing wrong!?

Okay, now I’m scared to death LOL. I placed my order and have the confirmation email. Now I feel just as anxious as I did when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter: all education, research and confidence out the window!

I’m all nervous and worried I’m gonna break these babies.

Going to go practice deep breathing exercises and whip out my duck books for refreshers.

And thanks btw- I would’ve hemmed and hawed at getting something that wasn’t on my stubbornly decided list but I think your winky face was sortve “go on, you can do it.”

Or maybe that’s what I’m gonna tell the hubs.... <3

It'll be great. I have 25 eggs due on the 24th. If Walmart doesn't have Kiddi Pools by then I have no clue what I'm going to do. .

And that's me alright. I have an obsession with winky faces.

Oh lord... my duck math has started...

I was laying down and on my phone before bed and I just had a thought: “if I just got some Black Swedish, I might as well get some Blue Swedish!”

I’m calling Metzer this morning (well later... it’s 4:00am right now which is like 11p or something in Cali) to add 2 female Blues to my order.

Someone help me haha

I bought my first 2 ducklings from metzer 2 springs ago, beautiful birds and they were so great to work with. We had missing babies, USPS was very unhelpful but with metzers help, we located the shipment and and saved my babies on day 4 after hatch.

Oh my god! I’m worried about the flight from California to Indy but I’m (admittedly bad idea) assuming they expedite/overnight or whatever the packages. I noticed they said they ship on Tuesdays. My understanding is that the Monday/day before *might* be a holiday for Easter but since Tuesday isn’t, I’m optimistic it’ll ship without hitches. I know you have to pick them up from post office, which is fine, but I just hope they actually mean the local post office and not some bigger City post office. I’m out in the sticks so I worry that my local post office won’t be “important” enough.

I’m also going to go ahead and buy my Cayugas (now that I understand I don’t wait to order them... I’m so mad; I totally screwed myself out of 3 months based on ignorance )

And just wanted to add (to the anti-duck breed racism I fear) I wanted Cayugas for my husband AND because (like the Swedish) they’re in watch/needs more duckies category.

I’m a sucker for ‘underdogs’ and want to encourage grabbing some rare ones.
