Buying Hatching Eggs on eBay???

I've gotten eggs from Ebay. My hatch rates weren't good, BUT I was using a poor incubator. With the current model, I'm getting awesome hatch rates and may try again.

I've had anywhere from 0% to 100% hatch rates from shipped eggs, its risky. Sometimes you get something, other times you dont.

That's what I was going to say. Not all Ebay sellers are bad. It's always good to read several pages of their feedback and ask questions BEFORE you bid whether you buy on Ebay or on here. There are scammers here as well.

If you want some eggs for a good "starter" hatch, look on craigslist for some fertile barnyard eggs. Most of the time, you can find them for less than $5 a dozen.

wouldnt it just be easier to just get from here then instead of risking it with a possible scammer?!

All you need to do is check their feedback as a seller on ebay. It'll say if they have sent the wrong eggs or not.
I don't doubt that sellers on here may be good, but personally since I don't have to pay to access ebay, I'd rather buy eggs on there than here, also I know that the eggs I'm interested in are from the Uk at first glance whereas I don't know if thats the case or not here.
Same as anywhere really, if you do the research on the seller, you should be ok. If you just buy without checking them out first, you may be at risk.

this.

also, ebay offers buyer protection. BYC does not.

Really, EBay is just as good a place as any to buy eggs. I have bought 100s of eggs of eBay and been happy with them some more than others. But never to the point i felt ripped off or taken.

I have bought off this site twice and feel i was robbed both times. When you order eggs and start hatching funny off color chicks (some thing wrong)
or you candle the eggs right after they arrive and 1 is already rotten and smells.

I will also add this is a great site to learn about chickens and other Fowl. And yes we have some really great people on here. And to those people i say thank you.

Just received my first batch of e-bay purchased eggs today.
The seller is very professional! The eggs were wrapped in tissue, than well wrapped in bubble wrap, then placed in a box with crumpled newspaper. The box had a slight crunch, but not a single egg was cracked. I candled the eggs and can't see anything amiss, but I've yet to see air sacs in such young eggs. The breed is one which I have hatchery type, the seller claims his are show. The eggs I received today average larger than the eggs my hatchery hens lay, so I'm pleased.
This seller has excellent feedback, which contains information about his packing skills and there is feedback about hatch rates and healthy chicks. I suspect if the seller used better pictures, his eggs would sell faster, but since, if I have a good hatch rate I'll want to order more, I won't tell him that yet.

I've also purchased here, and had a fine experience. Well packed eggs, an acceptable hatch rate.
As others say, learn what you can about a seller before buying and you will most likely be fine. Assuming of course, the postal service doesn't jinx you.
