When using pine needles, and shavings that have not been kiln dried, watch your birds closely. The sap and oils contained could possibly irritate your chickens in a multitude of ways. The same goes with straw/hay. If it is not completely dry, the mold and fungus could cause problems. As with anything, make sure there is more than adequate ventilation.
