Buying meat birds...

Yeah, we bought one of those dirt cheap all male broiler deals. Ummm,
they did make good fryers by 10 weeks and were easy to raise. Trouble
is WE STILL HAVE A FEW AND SOME WERE HENS!!! Now my main flock
has grown yet again. Getting in a box of 50 chicks, whether for meat
or not, is way too much fun.

Now try ordering some meat ducks and see how cute those little birds
are.

Folks raise what the heck works for you!

The bottom line is that the Cornish cross is the fastest, most efficient way to produce chicken protein while the Colored Broilers are a viable alternative for those that are willing to wait and have a bird that is less efficient yet is adapted to ranging.

I prefer the Cornish X for several reasons:

I want the birds out of here fast with the least amount of feed.
I want a HUGE breast and plump legs.
I want a bird that is easy to process and pluck.
