Buying quails online and having them shipped -- a bad idea?

Any recommendations on a reputable online seller of coturnix chicks? Is this even a good idea?

I've been trying to find local sellers but the nearest one I found was way up in northeastern PA. I guess the obvious second question is, anyone know any sellers nearby to Philadelphia?

Shipping is a bad idea unless they are older chicks. The babies need water and food earlier thay chicken chicks do and probably won't survive shipping. They are also tiny when first hatched and more fragile that chicken chicks.

I am in western CT about 3 hrs from Philly. I am not hatching currently but will be in a couple of months and would certainly sell you some but I won't ship.

Any interest in hatching eggs yourself?

Thanks for your reply.

I would be interested in hatching the chicks myself but I'm not sure what's involved in incubation and the cost of it (other than buying a pre-manufactured incubator). I wanted to start with live chicks and work my way to incubation.

Do you think I am going about this the wrong way?

Where do you live?
Maybe there is a BYC member close to you that can sell you some!
I see them on Craigs list all the time! In Florida anyway.
I got mine at a swap meet.
