That's really good for never drawing! The colors, body shape- everything is so much better than anything I could ever do!
Thank you! I did use a reference - I think I'd overwhelm myself if I tried to do it without something to give me a rough guideline. 😅
Freehanding from references is my best friend for trying new things.
I actually found that tracing a reference helped me additionally when it came to developing my own reference-free drawings. No tracings here though.

You guys talking about art using fancy words I don't even know.
Me with my art:

I use references too, but I still think your's is better. Again, your picture is impressive. I hope you do more.

In the meantime... I haven't done today's yet and it's already 6:30. I probably should get onto supper, take care of my birds, then get started if I want to do today's.

Haha! That's me, too, the fancy words are just to make us sound cooler. 😎🤣
Hey now, I don't need fancy to be cool

I'd say I'm entirely self taught. The one time I tried doing some kind of lessons I stopped going cause I got sick of being forced to do landscapes every. single. time.

... I only went like 2 or 3 times

I think folks who can just *poof* "look at this thing I have seen three times from a distance!" Are crazy talented! Maybe fewer folks do it than I think?
Thank you again. 😊 I will try to do more. I've got some catching up to do, or maybe I will just pick and choose, lol.

I've done a few scattered classes here and there, mostly when I was like ten for basic concepts such as proportions, perspectives, light and shadow, etc. I did an art design class in the 24/25 school year, and that's when I was made to do my first colored pencil piece. My gracious teacher gave me a whole extra week, because all of the other students had studied colored pencil art before. 😅

I have done stuff without a reference before... In fact, most of my art was without one, but now I'm discovering that my art is better with a reference and on some of it, I've been starting to trace. That's only on my digital though, and is only on the outline. I fill everything in and add details using a reference. (I haven't shared any of my pieces that I've traced the outline on because I sorta feel like it's cheating.)
