I went out to the coop during my early morning routine to check on critters and get them ready for another hot and dry day. This is what I discovered! I wondered why the chickens weren't drinking from this waterer. By the way, it's made its home here and the chickens leave it alone so it's as happy as a clam at high tide in the new digs.

Roadrunners are pretty neat birds. One comes to my wild bird bath daily for a drink of water, I watch for him everyday.

we don't seem them as much here in the phx area, but they're all over the place on the lower desert by mt folks' house down on the border

We had a stray cat we were leaving food/water under a tarped chair on the deck - hoping to catch it. I heard noise and carefully lifted the tarp edge only to discover a big momma racoon with 2 babies. They all took off. A week later the 2 babies showed up alone, perched on the AC unit peering in the window.

One took off but the other came over to the front door and sat face to face with one of our cats before walking away (didn't get the shot). Momma was later found hit by a vehicle.

About 2 weeks later only one came back to visit, we figured the other passed away from the cold, it was winter and in the single digits.

Well, the surviving baby did come back a 3rd time, it came up to the door and standing on it's hind legs peering in the window. I took the photo before it turned and started to walked away. When it got to the steps, it turned put its paw up as to wave goodbye before disappearing into the night.

We never saw it again after this photo was taken. I took the 3 photos and used them in a calendar the following year.
