Thanks...

I still feel like I'm not very good, but I will continue to work on it, whether I get better or worse. I mean, drawing is fun. I just hate feeling like I can't do better than a beginner, no offense to you beginners out there!

Heya guys, I have a predicament. I'm trying to plan out my class schedule for next year, but the classes don't fit. I will either have to drop one of my honors classes..... Or art. My best friend and science teacher said I should drop my art class.... But I love it so much I don't know if I could bring myself to do it. Art is the one thing that keeps me relaxed and locks me into my place the world like I am. I don't know what I would do without it! I'm going to ask my art teacher what she thinks tomorrow morning. But I would also appreciate you guys' opinions- is my art good enough to drop out of an honors class and fully commit to art for all highschool? I need help deciding this... I've only got till Thursday to make up my mind before we send In our final schedule plans
I ran into this situation last year.. Definitely talk to your art teacher. I went and talked to mine and he said to take the honor classes and that I could come in whenever I want to work.

Thanks...

Have you ever tried using a grid? do you have blending stumps?

Don't get down on yourself, you are great at drawing. I can't draw anything from my head and it drives me nuts. I have to have a reference picture and a grid in order to draw anything.

Chickenfan You are better at drawing that I was at 18 so don't let it get you done.. let it inspire you to keep going. Look at Picaso.. nasty and ugly in my opinion.. but a lot of people love his work. Take your blessing of talent and move forwards. Keep trying, and just because what your hand drew looks like someone else's work, doesn't mean that its not your art. If your hands drew it.. it is your art K :)

I haven't tried drawing with a grid; I do have blending stumps.

Encouragement is helpful. I often wonder if art classes would help me, but I am just not sure.

Thanks, Chic. I have been inspired a lot by the kind words from you guys here on BYC. If it weren't for y'all, I may very well have quit by now. I try to encourage myself, and often seek encouragement from, well, fellow artists. In the end, I hope things turn out for the better. For now, I will just have to continue drawing to get better.

Aw, thanks. I am getting more help and encouragement from you guys than I expected, and it's really sweet of you all to take the time to post such thoughtful words.

Thank you, all of you! It really means a lot to me.
