BYC Chat - Saying Goodbye to an old friend

Yea it did go downhill when there were a bunch of kids invading it and making it a less mature place to talk.

Yea it did go downhill when there were a bunch of kids invading it and making it a less mature place to talk.

I think you just figured out why it is now closed. Immaturity = inappropriate conversations.

It (the Chat Q&A) should probably now be removed from the BYC Facs so that new peeps don't spend a lot of time looking for it.

Over the past two years the staff here has attempted to moderate chat and keep it family friendly. There are days we actually spend as much time dealing with reported chat issues and the resultant fall out as we do moderating the entire forum. 24/7 onsite moderator presence in chat is virtually impossible to maintain. There have also been issues with the forum in general: slowing down and timing out due to the strain chat engines place on a server. I have spent a fair amount of time in chat at times in the past like many here and have met some great people. But seeing the issue from both sides of the fence I have to agree that the down side of chat highly outweighs the plus side.
