BYC Cookbook ???

We use to have a printed version in our store, but they are sold out. We weren't planning to do any other runs of the cookbook, but I'm getting some pressure <cough Terrie cough> to potentially have the members work together to update and create a new one.

Is there a way you can download it on a CD for the old BYC cookbook?

I would not mind a NEW Backyard Chickens cook book!

Well, Terrie, how about it?????????? Huh? Huh?!

Oh, that would be wonderful for us new eggers... and more importantly it would also be a great blessing!

So...coughing aside Terrie, you can do it, you can do it, you can do it! "P A L E Z E" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had some folks wanting a Xeroxed copy of my BYC cookbook and I told them NO! I do believe in sharing but it would go against the copy right laws of the publishers and BYC. Sure I can make my OWN copy which I can write all over it and keeping the original BYC on the shelf, free from spills and stains. I can not do it in good conscience in "helping" copying the cookbook for others. I can share the original cookbook for them to look over, copy some recipes for their own use but it would defeat the purpose if and when they decided to go copy the book on their laser printer copier. Can anyone clarify the "fine line" of someone using for their own use (not to be sold, etc.) and the copyright laws?

My Dad worked for Xerox for many many years and copied books for me for my own use. I have given the books away or thrown away as time went on, downsizing or no interest in it anymore. If I was to remotely sell the books or make "reprints" I would get into trouble with the copyright laws. Now you can download anything on line.

Beside the BYC "Backyard Chickens for Dummies" and BYC's Cookbook, it should be available at every library!

OR a Nifty idea....make a one time download of the BYC cook book with a small fee/charge (like e-book sites would do)!!!!

Yes I have been nagging ...er um discussing with Rob the need to re-release the cookbook.
Once I get back from a short vacation, I will be nagging...er uh getting with him to get started on editing and maybe adding new recipes.

I use my cookbook almost every day and I know it is a great one deserving of reprinting.

An E-Book is a GREAT idea!

Can I make a suggestion? I think that a book could easily be made just for canning recipes and preserving meats from all the recipes that have been posted here in various threads. I would love to have all the canning recipes that are in the canning thread in a book form and would be delighted to purchase one from BYC. I think if asked there would be many more who would also love to have a canning book. As long as your thinking about possibly re- issuing the cookbook maybe you could think about this too?
