It's probably one of those things that we figure out in our head when we are a kid and our mind is blown when we get older and learn the right way.
For the longest time I called a "bouquet" a "banquet". I still have to catch myself when the kids bring me a bunch of flowers I want to call it a banquet.

I dunno. Pretty much everything I know how to pronounce is the way I interpret it from reading. I don’t socialize much.

This is why the good lord invented movie theaters and television. And audio books.

It took me a while to figure that out too.
I used to read a lot when I was a kid but we also watched all our movies with subtitles so I think that helped me out with pronunciation.

A few years ago I asked my aunt if the plates were in the “arm-wall,” she was so confused. My mind was blown when I found out it was armoire. I still say arm-wall.
