Amy, I have a child with Autism also! Not that it's exciting lol, but yay that there is someone in this amazing group of people that knows the struggles that come along with autistic children. He also has asthma, but he doesn't have it very bad. The dr's called it seasonal asthma. The rest of the kids have sensory issues, and the oldest may have Asperger's. We just started discovering all of this stuff this summer when we fought for testing for our son for his autism. It's still very new to us, and overwhelming to say the least.

I think Alyssa has seasonal asthma too. Not a major issue during the rest of the year, but change the weather, and she gets that cough that never stops. I thought my coughs drove everyone batty...Alyssa's drive you insane. Just take a breath honey.. cough cough cough cough cough cough cough...etc. lol
She developed RSV at 2 months old, was in the hosp for 3 days in an oxygen tent. Poor kid, they rushed her from one hosp to the other via ambulance, scared the puddin outta daddy, he rode with.
The nurses on the floor they put her in, came in to do an iv,... not a good thing to do while Dad's still in the room. The *****'s couldnt get it, thought he'd slap em all for hurtin his girl. Nah, Alyssa does sweet revenge,... when they took her temp, she poo'd all over thier hands...hehehehe

She starts PT Thursday at 8 am, they want to do 2 days a week. SO what they want really, is for me to drive all the way across town, take her to pt, then take her to school, then drive back across town, twice a week, right? lol Good thing I paid $1.59 for gas the other day. lol

Dropping back by to catch up here! I've missed my "Hooker Friends"

The cold front hasn't hit us yet, but it's gray & yucky looking outside.

My 15 yr old DD also has seasonal asthma. She loves sports and has even played on a select soccer team. Change of season gets her every year. She's really bad about not doing her daily inhaler to keep it at bay. I think she'd have less flare ups if she did it. She has to whip out the Albuterol inhaler if the awful croupy seal like bark cough starts, but over all I think she is out growing it....I hope. I hate it when that cough can't get nipped in the bud and it does last foreveeeer! You can hear it all night long..poor baby. I hope Alyssa feels better soon. They are usually zombies from not getting sleep b/c the cough keeps them awake all night.

Mornin' all! Welcome to all the newest people!! I'm new too

! Had some morning struggles with 6 y/o DD. She fights going to school each and every morning. Today was especially difficult.

Some mornings, I just want to hide with SK

Okiemommy: I have one with sensory issues as well. Not autism or Aspergers though. She has developmental delays/sensory issues. She sees an O/T 6 times a month for help. It's a challenge for me, not quite as much as you and Amy struggle with though...

We have asthma here too. DH and DS.

DS has to do the whole breathing treatment deal here during the winter cold season.


Scrambled Egg: I am feeling the pressure big time! I saw my name with ???? on the Spring Swap list! I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw that!

if I can do it, you can do it too Newchick, but I do admit that the swaps can be intimidating. However, these gals are so sweet and understanding that there were plenty of extras to go around even though I didn't finish my squares. I really hope to finish my circles for spring.

hehehe! Thanks for the vote of confidence Rocket! Santa will be putting a crochet starter kit in my stocking, so we'll see what happens from there!! Thanks for your advice on that BTW... I will be taking myself (um, Santa) over to Michaels to pick up the suggested items!
