Those are really neat looking hats. And the first one, with some embellishments and in the right color could also be the base form for a bridal veil.

AWww Those are so cool!!!

thanks so much!!!!

At what age do the peafowl start getting noisy?
I have three that are 6 months old and I havent heard so much as a peep out of them.
Of course, with all the geese honking and the ducks quacking, maybe I just didnt notice them.

Ours are going onto 3 years old.. we think!
Got them last summer, right at the end of breeding season (we got 4 eggs from her, none were viable

) They start laying at 2 years, or close to 2 years old. They will start mating season in march-ish to October, or is it August? lol We're learn as ya go along so long as ya dun mess up too horribly bad. lol
They have a very distinct call. Sounds similar to, but isnt quite a goose-ish honk

Hopefully, if they go off again tomarrow, I'll be able to get it on video so I could post it. lol
Wuhoo! 11 eggs today so far

Thanks Skand. Here is a pic that I took a month or two ago of our peafowl. The youngest one likes to display for me. I have two that are brown with green chests and the one (shown in front) that is mostly white. It was completely brown as a chick and I was told it was a male India Blue. LOL Im thinking they were mistaken. I have no idea what variety it really is.
So, I have no idea what sex any of them are and I dont know how to tell until they get their long tail feathers.

I put a couple sacrificial bantam roosters in with them a week or two ago and the peafowl didnt seem aggressive towards them at all. We are currently building them a flight pen to share with the bantam ducks.

Skand..... are your peafowl free ranging?
If so, do they go into a coop at night or roost in trees?

he's PURDY!!! That would be a male emerald. She looks likea pied color.. not for real sure. lol We have ours in a pen 24/7 with a net on top. They go in at night. lol We only have one male and one female, and everyone wants to buy them from us! They ask how much to buy them, we tell 'em oh,,, bout 5000, thier jaws just drop. Dude! If we bought new chicks, they'd take us at least 3 years before we had them breeding.

They're gorgeous!! Just out of curiousity, why do you keep peafowl? For the natural lawn ornaments? Or to breed and sell? Or both? I have thought about getting some, but don't know what in the world I would have them for.

Just to say I have peacocks?
