Man, you guys are soooo tempting! I've already gotten myself sucked into learning crochet, and now this! I quilt too. Those chicken patterns are so cute!! I have done cross stitch in the past, but not too recently. I did a fair size project back when I was about 14 (now 34). I did enjoy it back then.... I need more hours in the day.

You just go right ahead and get those charts ready for emailing. We will be needing them! We can start a library of different chicken breeds!

Oh gosh - feeling guilty here. This is my only current cross stitch project and it has been a UFO for, oh, 3-4 years now!

I can't even remember the stitch size.

This is what it looks like done:

I learned to embroider before I could sew, and have done everything from smocking to cross stitch to Ayrshire whitework to stumpwork. However, I claim no virtue because right the moment I'm not certain where I put the chart and threads for this one!

BTW - this came from the gift shop at Mount Vernon, which is a wonderful and fascinating place to visit. It's not a staid museum at all; it's a working farm with cattle, hogs, sheep, chickens and roosters. You should see the looks on people's faces when they encounter the free ranging chickens near the Vistor Center! And you can really feel the presence of George Washington too.

Miss Prissy, I stopped cross-stitching because a few years ago I took a couple of picture frames apart and there was a brown stain around where the frame was. I tried several things to remove the stains. I worked on a piece for several years, a complicated Victorian street scene, and it got brown stains too. I never framed it. The last thing I tried was dry cleaning and that didn't work.

So, I have stopped cross-stitching and putting so much work into something that stains. Even new cloth has it. It is like a mildew. Do you have any idea how to prevent it? Have you had that problem?

Phyllis, I love visiting Mount Vernon. I want your pattern! LOL Have you seen the 2006 Mt. V. Christmas ornament?

CL, I have never had that issue. Perhaps scotch guard would help? Framed under glass there should be no stainin unless it was acid from the frame itself.

Wow!! You gal's sure move fast. I couldn't get online yesterday after my DD got up. She's on temporary lay-off till Jan. 13th. She kinda takes over the computer and that's it for me till the next morning. Well, it is her computer...lol!!!

Anyway, Glad we have a club now. This will be such fun.

Wildsky: Lovely lions piece. I agree with what eggchel said. Most times only we see our mistakes. And I've made some many times. It only adds to the piece being truly yours.

tabsmonsters: Great pieces! I love Stoney Creek, they have a lot of great pieces. Love the 'Hens' I would like copies too, please.

newchichenfamily: Maybe you can break up your projects on a daily basis. Day 1: crochet, Day2: quilt, Day 3: cross stitch...and rotate from there. Of course, I don't want to be an enabler...

sewingdiva: Lovely piece! Don't feel too bad, I just finished a piece this past summer that I had started in 1999. Only took 9 years. It was for DH, he didn't think he'd ever see it done. Fooled him!!!!!

I'm wanting to start a Butternut Road design called 'New Baby', for my darling little granddaughter. Will have to check and make sure I have everything needed to get started. Haven't looked at it in quite a while.
