I love those drawings, and color is really hard to figure out, alot of people can draw but start mastering color and BAM! I have several books and still didnt get it right! I did pen and ink because I was real bad with colors lol

Cochins- Not sure if I'm too late, but go darker on the eyelashes. Just because you cannot see it in the photo doesn't mean it's not there, so add the iris behind the top lashes, just a dark shadow, really. Go ahead with a darker lead, like a .05 rather than an .07 or anything darker than a number 2 if you're using wooden pencils. Put the iris in, darken up the lashes as well as the mouth, where the lips meet. As for the African-American hair, I have found that all hair in general goes better in layers. So shade in the hair area, do some "circles" for tight curls, then blend and shade it again. Get it very dark, then use a kneaded eraser to highlight where the light hits. Keep it soft. Great skin tones, BTW. Well done! Not sure if this helps at all, but looks good so far!

Look...a feather! LOL! There is a bird & nest in this drawing, too, though I doubt you can see it. Top left...think it got cut out on here. I totally forgot that I do have a few birdie things in here...LOL. This is a piece I've been working on for a long time, and, like everything else, can't seem to finish. It's very big, 18" x 24" and is called, "the Storyteller." I have a few others I hope to finish in 2013. What is everyone else working on or planning for next year?

These are absolutely amazing! and I have no idea what I'll be doing next year. All I know is that I want to complete at least one big piece; I want to fill the 32 in sheet of paper I bought. I'm not as avid of a drawing as most of you. I do a couple of pieces here and there, but I usually don't set time aside for drawing. I need to start setting aside some time for drawing so that I can improve as I've only been drawing for a little over a year. Maybe that should be my new New Years Resolution. I think I remember you posting something about drawing for 10 years now, well it shows. Your work is magnificent.

Yup, I turned that in a couple weeks ago. I did end up darkening the eye lashes a little as well as a couple of other changes but it definately wasn't my best work. I think I rushed that one. I'll attach pictures of how the curly hair turned out and the as well as the final project. I saved everything until 2 days before it was due (procrastination) so I really had to rush it. Thanks for the tips! The african hair was kinda crazy, I just started making dark sqiggles everywhere and it didn't turn out to bad.

Sorry about the refelction in the pictures, our final projects had to be framed and I don't want to try and take it back out. It's supposed to have a 'connecting cultures' sort of theme.

Here's a link you guys should look at. It's an egg art contest as part of the NYD hatch-along. It ended yesterday, but there are some great entries, especially towards the end. There are only 6 pages, so I highly recommend you take a glance at them all. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/730324/nyd-contest-9-egg-art-contest/50#post_10159860

By the way, some eggs are drawn on, some are dyed, some are painted, so there is a wide variety of eggs to look at.
