You guys are so good at drawings horses. I'm not sure if I've gotten worse at drawing them, or if I'm just now getting used to how bad I was before I stopped drawing them all the time. O.O Here's one I'm going to send to a friend of mine. It's the best horse I've done in a while, and I think it's going to be the last as well.

Why last??! Your shading is GORGEOUS!! And I love your ears, I stink at ears.

That's a great horse! I'm not that good free-hand. Now, if i have a picture to look at I can do fairly well.

I stink at ears as well! I'm not sure how those came out as well as they did to be honest. My horse ears end up looking like squiggly circles most of the time.

That wasn't free-handed, actually.

I used a reference. I've decided that, all the pictures I draw without a reference look really bad, so now I use stock images more often.
Also, the horse in the reference picture I used is an Arabian. Note the difference (The big difference) in my drawing.

A gryphon I'm naming General Rutan!

I'm kind of thinking about writing a story about gryphons(though General Rutan won't be the main character).

First Concept

I always make the good ears by accident, then can never make good ones when I actually try. I was saying the freehand thing in reference to you saying "you guys are so good at drawing horses" I'm not that good without a reference, they begin to look animated. I get an image in my brain, then draw it. Since I've been doing a lot of more, fantasy, horses here lately, it;s hard to find images. Do NOT lok up pics of Kelpie horses!! :[]

Well, not all Arabians have the distinguishing dished face and arched neck.
