Excited to say we will have some in less than a month. Local babies expected to hatch beginning of July. We are getting 12 for our 5 acres of tick paradise! I have gotten lots of great advice from many of you! I would love to join! And see photos of your birds , & coups! I'm building one this month and need inspiration :) also they're flyers... How do I do the brooder with them.. Does it need to be Espescially deep? Or just have a strong lid? I'm thinking in September I will take them outside to their coup and ... Then um.... They can eat things outside? I want to train then to come to the coup with a treat at night? I don't know what color they'll be but we mostly are thrilled to have tick hunters on their way. Always looking for advice!

One of my guinea eggs is moving! It is only the 22nd day of incubation and it is time to turn the egg. When I candled it, it was completely full inside. Should I turn it or just let it go? Is it going to hatch 6 days early? First time trying to hatch some guineas so if I could get info from someone ASAP it would be great!

Has it come through the inner membrane? If so set it on it's side and don't turn it any more.

I am new at this incubating and raising guineas but I have not had a problem yet with the guineas riding the rails out of the first 18 eggs 15 hatched and are fine I took two racks out of the egg turner and they seam to find the flat non moving part of the incubator I hope I am not a bad dad for this. When I started this I was told and I read lots about guineas and 28 days was the number but the first guinea was out at 22 days and the last came out at 25 days DO I have a magic incubator? Thanks for reading

No, you do not have a magic incubator. What you have is an incubator with the temperature set too high. It is possible that the thermometer that you are using is inaccurate. For a still air incubator the temperature should be 101.5°F when measured at the top of the eggs. If it is a forced air incubator the temperature should be 99.5°F. If you are using the correct settings then it is your thermometer that is wrong.

When incubated at the correct temperature, guinea eggs will start hatching on day 26 and continue through day 28. If they are hatching earlier then you are incubating at too high a temperature and if they are hatching much later, then you are running at too low of a temperature.

I would let it sit as it might take several hours or several days .....

I didn't see any holes in the egg yet. I've read that on the 22nd day the air cell slants and the chick move into position to hatch. Maybe it will be a couple of days yet until it hatches and I just happened to see it moving into position?
