I'm new to Guineas too - have had grown ones in the past and didn't have a clue as to how to keep them and we ended up losing them all to predators.![]()
Now I'm raising keets. At what age can they start eating the white millet?
Thanks!
I live N of OKC on 65 acres I-35 is in my front yd oh I live about 200' from it. Anyway it's noisy! They stay clear of it! They wonder all over the place. They return to their coop at night to eat. It is covered with chicken wire and had chain link fence around it. That way no predotors can get at them at night! They have greatly reduced the amount of bugs here! I found out that if I keep the hens in the coop that the roosters would not wonder far and get into trouble!I'm afraid that they are fearless, and do go in the road...and I've lost 3 out of 17 to the road. Most of the time our neighbors will stop for them, but we have tourists coming to the beach that drive too fast, and couldn't care less. BUT--I do love the little dickens, and started 17 more this year. I lost most of the others to foxes and a Cooper hawk attack. I've tried everything but permanently penning them (which sort of defeats the purpose of the bug control)...and I've learned to do the best I can. These birds aren't for everybody--but I sure do like them.
