BYC Guinea hen club

Pics
My guineas are a year old and all I got was an egg about every week for a month totalling fifteen all summer. I have four females and a male in a pen that doesn't get a lot of sun. Is that why they aren't laying. Someone said they are supposed to lay about an egg a day in the summer. I just thought guineas laid once in a while when the weather's the hottest.

I have 4 hens and lots of eggs when I find their nest they lay in their pen and when they free range. They prefer to free range. They can turn their egg laying off when I don 't let them out. I started out with 15 guineas I now have 36! I have an incubator.

I can completely agree that BYC needed a Guinea hen club! I love my guineas. We are having a female being broody and we moved her for her safety. So she is laying again.

Well most of them developed but did not peep at all and when I opened them I found they had sucked up all the yoke so they were ready but just did not finish or start to hatch ......

Mine did that this year. I opened them up with a little hole so they could breath. I candled them first to see where the air pocket was. If there was any blood I put them back in the bator. I only lost one.

Hi everyone, I don't usually post anything here, but thought maybe I should since I have two hens in a dog crate on about 40 eggs, lol. Haven't candled them yet, so I have no idea if they good or when they might hatch.

Welcome to my world!
400

Here we go again! I had a guinea hen setting on about 30 eggs. She hatched 2 and quit the nest. I now have about 40 eggs in the bator with 3 in the hatcher. 15 have already hatched!i now have 45 guineas with more coming!

What are you going to do with them all!? And here I thought 12 was too many to handle :p

I have 46 now with about 30 in the bator and 3 in the hatchery. I do not expect all of them to hatch. I 'll probably have about 55-60 when it's all said and done. I'll probably sell some of them. The rest I'll keep. They are habit forming!
