Yeahhh for homeschoolers! We homeschool here In Idaho ~ at the moment we are hard into home economics ~ everybody is learning how to can, including me, because we are going to use a pressure cooker for the first time ~ (scared, but looking forward to canned veggies, can't do it in a waterbath.... sigh... have waterbath canned since about age 10, when my mom put me to work in the kitchen,lol)

~ among other things. Homeschooling has changed our family life so much for the better ~ & our children love it! It IS a messy ordeal, however.... but I guess we are raising kids, not training housemaids. Although I wouldn't mind one a time or two, lol.

My one book reccomendation on homeschooling ~ Oliver DeMille's "A Thomas Jefferson Education".

Yes there are quite a few of us on here! Lots of HS kids post as well, which I think is pretty cool as many HS sites don't let the kids post on the boards with the parents.

Our 7th year and still going strong. Actually this year is probably the best one yet. I love all my curriculum choices and now that I'm doing middle school the ssecond time around I can use all those books that have been sitting in boxes collecting dust!

I just registered our "private" school for the third time this year (one of the options for homeschooling in CA). We all love it. Can't imagine now why I ever chose to send my oldest to school for kinder.

I homeschool my children. I have a seventh grader and a fifth grader. I have been homeschooling for 12 years. One of the reasons I homeschool is that my children have so many allergies. I started homeschooling when my oldest was in 8th grade. She has since graduated from college. I feel that my kids are getting a great education. They love to take care of the chickens and learned how to can this year. Great to know there are more of us on BYC.
