I finally got a chance to read.... Awesome interview. I suspect your new place will make you feel right at home being next to the animal sanctuary.....
The animal sanctuary was a total surprise, but not an unwelcome one. It was just a bit of a shock the first time we sat on the back porch, sipping our morning coffee, and monkeys began screeching, then lions began roaring.
Shortly after that, the donkeys start braying on the donkey farm on the other side of us. The neighbor's bull right behind us chimes in, along with roosters, and the other assorted wild birds. I love my morning coffee time.
If it weren't for all the unpacking, and setting up the house, I would spend a lot more time there. It's turning out to be our favorite area. I will even be able to see my new coop from there when we get it built.
I love that you now have your own place with room for your chickens! The "benefits" of having neighbors with other animals to keep your "porch time" interesting sounds wonderful! You know you will not have to worry about noise complaints!
Nice interview, Cheryl. When I read the bit about your neighbors at your new house, know the first thought that passed through my mind???? OH my! Access to lots of exotic animal manure for the gardens!!!
