Marlon, known to BYC members as rebelcowboysnb is one of our old-timers and has been around about as long as BYC's been around! One of our "BYC Friends", he will often be found in the Random Ramblings forum section, sharing pics, videos and chatting with friends.

1. Tell us a bit more about yourself.

Where to start. I am a single 38 year old with no kids lliving on 3 acres on the top of a mountain in the "Independent State of Dade." I have been disabled my whole life but try to not let it slow me down.

I first dipped my toe in to music in middle school. Wrote 2 songs that found their way in to the hands of Nashville celebrities. One of which I performed on stage with the famous Catesby Jones. Dropped the music thing after that till many years later. Spent 13 years of my life as a Fireman an Emergency Medical Responder. Something I wish I was still doing but there is a point where you have seen all you can stand an have to walk away. I went to Chattanooga State for Automotive Technology and later ran the family Garage an junkyard for several years. I stepped away from that when dad decided to sell. I have been in IT ever sense. Buying, building, hosting an selling websites for a while. Now I get a paycheck from Google for my youtube content. I currently have 3 active youtube channels. The oldest has a little bit of everything. I am mostly known for my videos on building incubators. I am getting to be somewhat well known for my videos teaching people to play Harmonica. That channel gets about 4000 viewers a month. https://www.youtube.com/user/RebelCowboySnB Not what I call famous but enough to get me recognised every now an then. My second channel that I started just last year is RV related an though it only has 6 videos posted so far, It its getting 3500 views a month already. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC98jWxQ611F_S4cSIuLHxFg Way better than I ever expected in just a year. The third channel is only about 8 months old an is just me doing video game stuff for fun. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8cBXXf5c3u_3AniKMif49Q I later plan to move my Harmonica videos to their own channel an start on a cooking channel. I am thinking about writeing a book too.

2. Why and when did you start keeping chickens?

Well if you look at my profile on here it says I joined in 2008. That is not exactly accurate. That is when I migrated over after the website was sold. I was a member of this site way back when the original owner still had it. I cant say exactly when I started but it was around 2000. I remember talking on here with people on 9/11/2001

I had gotten chickens from a local feed store at some point. I spent a lot of time in the yard watching them on days that I had seen the worst parts of life. Working EMS is odd. You can save 50 peoples lives an you will not remember them. Loose one though an you will remember that face for ever. Those are the days you need somewhere to go to take your mind off of things. That somewhere for me was my chicken coop.

3. Which aspect(s) of chicken keeping do you enjoy the most?

Incubators... I remember starting to hatch my own chickens. Everyone had so many opinions on how to do it an it seemed to me that most of it was made up science. I spent years trying to prove real facts. To this day, some of my most viewed youtube videos are videos I made back then building incubators.

4. Which members of your flock, past and present, stand out for you and why?

Well I had lots of chickens over the year but I guess "dog" is the one that stands out the most. He was one of my first an was my last. He was an EE roo that died a year or 2 ago at around 15 year old. He just rulled the property his whole life. We called him "dog" though cause my nephew could pick him up an carry him around like a lap dog any time he wanted.

5. What was the funniest (chicken related) thing(s) that happened to you in your years as chicken owner?

Gennies I guess. I got some years ago an let them run the property. But they figured out where I sleep. They would all stand at my window an scream in to it every morning until I got up an gave them food..

6. Beside chickens, what other pets do you keep?

I have goats an pigs but mainly I breed Pugs.

7. Anything you'd like to add?

I am an open book so could probably come up with something to talk about forever. Feel free to ask me anything though... I spend my time on this site in the "random pictures" thread.

Heya, fellow Georgian! We used to converse around here on occasion, but since I stay out of RR, guess me miss each other mostly. Come visit one of my threads and say hello sometime!

Like you, I migrated from the other place when Rob grabbed this baby out of extinction so I've been around maybe 2 years longer-even had a different screen name at the very beginning. So, we're old timers, you and I. I didn't realize you had a youtube channel, will have to check that out!

Love your story of "dog", your 15 year old EE rooster. Give me hope for some of mine sticking around longer. Thanks, buddy!
