BYC Member Interview - thecatumbrella

I never knew that D'uccles were gym rats & skid mark producers.
:lau:lau:lau
I'm glad this is the kind of knowledge I can impart on BYC.
Mine were huge on lap sitting, I would sit on the floor of the coop or run and they would all line up from my ankles to my stomach, those on the sides that couldn't get on would beak the lap sitters off. Constantly arguing to be the one sitting closest to mommy. 🤣
Stop talking me into it! :barnie
I thought my Cochin Bantams might be cuddly like the Australorps. Yeah, right. Maybe if I put some eggs in my lap and bring a broody over. I miss chicken snuggles... :(
I remember the one time we tried planting corn, it grew and grew, but never produced anything. I think it was like six feet tall at the end!
It grows deceptively well, doesn't it? Couldn't wait to crack open a husk, only to find one of those miniature corns, like you'd find in stir fry.

Lovely interview. Not sure I can get used to you as April as you are firmly Catumbrella in my mind!
Had to laugh at the corn. I too tried corn. It was a massive success. I checked on it every day. Very exciting. Then the raccoons ate all of it in the course of one night!
I gave up after that.

Oh my gosh, I would have lost my mind! I'm guessing this is part of why they grow corn in huge fields; you can afford to lose some.

And I barely think of myself as an April anymore. No one calls me that unless I'm at a doctor's appointment, so Catumbrella is fine with me! 😁

Oh no! Deer did that to my cabbages 2 years ago. They were there one night, then gone the next day. I was so upset! Haven't grown cabbages since, lol.

Everyone I know is so enamored when a deer comes through their property. Meanwhile, I'm screaming at them out the window like a lunatic. "Go eat someone else's privacy screen! That's 5 years of growth, you know!"

They're beautiful animals, and i always enjoy seeing them. But they can destroy your plants quick like! We planted all our blueberry bushes close to the house, figuring they wouldn't want to come that close to the activity. So far, so good.
