BYC members in Massachusetts?

first time having chickens! Picked up just about everything. Need to assemble the coop. I have some leg horn chicks in my living room brooder tub. The beagle likes to watch over them. When is it safe to put them out

There are numerous quality breeders in the Northeast that offer very healthy stock from quality parent stock that is well cared for. I understand that ppl want pullets but if you do some research on what is done in the hatchery industry you may reevaluate your perspective not preaching it's just worth doing the research. The reason that numerous chicks die is because they come from unhealthy parent stock in a factory type setting. Often times you can find auto sexing or sex linked breeds that can offer you pullets using humane practices!
Would you mind elaborating? I have not had any luck finding local breeders. Is there a list or somewhere I could look them up? Thank you

I have purchased chicks on multiple occasions from Twin Cedar Farms in Acushnet, MA. The parent stock is there on the premise, and they have no problem showing you their birds and answering questions. Some of the birds are sold straight run, but I know you can get female Cream Legbars because they are autosexing.
