I wish there were more places that sold single or pairs of hens or pullets. I'm trying to get started in Missouri but everyone wants you to buy like 6 minimum to place orders.

Cackle Hatchery is in Missouri and that's who I have gotten chicks from. They offer a small package of 2 pullets and 1 cockerel although it is a little more expensive. Maybe you could go in on an order with someone?

I will look them up and see if there's a package I can possibly get from them. I don't mind paying a little more especially for good birds.

You can go to your states thread and ask around there with others in your area and see if you can find what you are looking for...

Great to have you aboard and enjoy BYC!

So happy you joined!
I feel for you. The reason they have ruled that you have to buy in groups of 6 is actually to limit the occurrence of backyard chickens. You can always hatch your own!

Sorry for the late response I was working. Thank you guys for all of the great information and the welcoming. We are very very excited to get started
