That’s so cute! I live the flight animation.
However, I do think the song is about two lovers, and the person singing is talking about her boyfriend who won’t leave the nest (wire) which I think is eher ether live, and she wants to leave and be free.
Idk, I’m just sayin stuff now.

Yeah, I put a lot of work into finding out how to animate birds flying, lol.
I think there are a lot of interpretations and it has a different meaning for everyone. Baseline with no interpretation, it’s about two male birds, one who wants to leave a wire and one who doesn’t.
When I listened to it it made me think of a family member who is battling addiction. So it could be a metaphor for that.
In my animatic, it’s based on the story of an elderly side character, Zephyr in my novella. Her mate, a red canary, and all of their children were killed in the red canary genocide (instigated by the black canaries.) She fell into deep depression and refused to leave her hut for years. She did not forage for herself and depended on her village, especially a single, elderly male canary named Sage (not romantically involved) to bring her food and water. Everybody is worried about her and she is the one who tells the protagonist that maybe his world has a dark past, and isn’t as perfect as he originally thought.
Eventually the protagonist goes on his epic adventure and brings about a better world where red canaries are no longer discriminated against, and Zephyr finally leaves the hut because of this new hope.
