Ducks can have medicated feed, it used to be that they couldn't. It will not hurt them. I have given it to a duckling when it was I had for starter food as we had chicks, keets and only 1 duckling. She is perfectly fine. Feeding them the same feed is fine however, ducks usually need extra niacin which can be given to them as a supplement. There are plenty of threads about this.

Yep, I've always raised my call ducklings on medicated feed. What they put in feed years ago was bad for ducks, but not the amprol that they use now is fine.

Lots of people gave you ideas and help....I agree learn to use the search tool. It might take some time to find the answers to all your questions, but that's what it's there for and really can work well for you.

Frankly. your last title came on like we owed you a use and care book. never saw your name before so How could I owe you anything? I will try to answer questions but NOT 'everything you ever wanted to know but were too lazy to look for" there are usually about 30 threads to choose from when I log on and I get to choose the ones I will open and read. I usually read 10-15 and reply to maybe 3, Yours never managed to even make my open list. If that makes me mean or rude so be it.

i think guilt tripping members on byc is not a productive way to get the information you want.

I researched for over two YEARS before i got my ducks. And I didn't have BYC as an option back then. And I have indoor ducks, there is even less information about that. But I really wanted ducks, so i didn't give up. If you simply want all the info to just be given to you without working for it and you will give up that easily, then ducks are not for you. they require far too much work and effort.

At minimum, we spend an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening on basic animal care, when there are no emergencies, births, hatchings, or other intensive treatments, so I have to agree with Nettie. Any animal that you take on as a responsibility is going to require as much care an attention as you can devote to it. By all means, get your ducks, but be prepared to spend the time and earn the knowledge that you need. You have a great resource here on this site if you spend the time to use it.

I've seen similar requests on other sites where people came in wanting the encapsulated knowledge of everyone present handed to them in one simple place. The reaction of the community always disappoints and makes the original question not worth having asked. It's mainly because either the questions are already answered in a diffuse way all over the site or because what they are asking for is hard won information. We are very lucky here that the moderators and administrators don't immediately lock questions that have been asked before, so often times you can get information from many sources and points of view.

I don't think you were intentionally rude. Just enthusiastic and then frustrated. Settle in and read the site a bit and relax. I'll post more pictures of the zombie ducks.
