Beautiful work, Buck!!!!!

I'm in the middle of dyeing some Najavo Churro fiber that I bought from a friend. I'm doing it with Easter egg tablets.

It's interesting because the first bunch is with the purple tablet, but it looks like it's rejecting almost all of the blue in that tab and absorbing the rest. I would love to know the chemistry of WHY!

If anyone is interested, I show how I took raw Navajo Churro fleece, dyed it with Easter Egg tablets, and spun it into yarn in my current blog post.

Have any of you worked with Navajo Churro fiber before?

I brought back an 8 oz ball of Churro roving, (complete with a photo of the sheep it is from), from Moab Ut last fall. It has been sitting next to the spinning wheel all winter as a reminder of the desert sunshine. It is on the soon to spin list. I understand Churro is on the coarser side than some other fibers. Do you have plans yet for the Churro you spun?

Peepa, it is coarse for sure. On my blog I have photos showing every step, including what it looks like spun. I think I'm going to make it into an Easter Wreath. I'd like to see yours once you spin it!

Just checked out your blog, very nice Itsy! I like how the fiber did not absorb the color evenly. Looks like some very pretty yarn on your wheel. I have a fair amount of Jacob and Romney to spin up and have been thinking of using that wool and the Churro for crocheted or knitted blanket. Posting the spun yarn will be a good incentive to finally learn how to post a picture!

Went up to the 'big' city of Eugene yesterday and found a neat 8 oz package of of BFL and silk in 11 colors of the rainbow. It is in a long plastic tube and call 3 Feet of Sheep. Great packaging idea. It will be a good dose of color therapy after so much rainy muddy weather.

I've spun Churro that was so coarse it would have only been good for rugs and Churro lamb fleece that was next to the skin soft that I blended with alpaca. I have a local friend (a certified Master Spinner) that raises Churros.

someday I will get a spinning wheel- but for now I will just buy my yarn.
