Hi everyone!
My farm girl dreams came true in February when my reluctant husband (finally) gave in to my 2 years worth of prodding at the sight of the peeps at tractor supply. I came home with 4 "assorted bantams" that the guy assured me were silkie (theyre not! I lost one on day 2, and now im pretty sure i have one silkie, one sizzle, and one cochin [roo?]), 2 red sex-links and 2 white sex-links. A fellow chicken farmer whom I met at the tractor supply brooders let me in on the secret of BYC, and I've been a daily "stalker" ever since. A week and a half after my first set of chicks, I went to a local hardware store that sells different varieties of chicks, and (much to my husband's surprise) came home with 6 new additions: an aracauna, rhode island red, buff Orpington, silver laced Wyandotte, black star, and a barred Plymouth rock. 10 hens & 3 bantams total, and I am LOVING my new hobby!

Thank you for answering all of my questions over the past month and a half (even though you did it unwittingly, since I was just searching by topic & reading threads). Now I can participate too :D

HI and welcome to BYC, I am also new, and did stalk for a few days before joining. I got my hens on March 22 this year. 10 pearl white leghorns, 5 red stars....very prolific layers we generally get at least 13 eggs each day, we actually got 13 eggs the day we brought them home, 6 were laid on the drive. I also have 9 araucana/ameraucana mixes. 5 of which I got at Murdochs, where I was told they were Araucana's, but they have tails, so they aren't true araucana's. 4 I got from a teachers son who raises chickens for 4H.
