October is black walnut harvest time in the Midwest. People all over Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas and further are raking up black walnuts from their yards and selling them to Hammons Black Walnuts in Stockton MO. Hammons sets up local hulling/buying stations in all the towns, usually at feed stores, and people bring in their bags of walnuts. This is an especially fun way for kids to make money.
