BYC's 2025 Spooktacular Halloween Hatch-Along

My 9 year old and I gave in and candled. Of the 20 set 5 are questionable. 1 of those 5 was too dark to see inside so unknown. 😍
These are two of the questionable eggs what do yall think?

I agree in the first i can kinda see some veining but it looks like there is something on the side. Almost like a blob (Idk how to describe it haha) it looks like the veins are smeared if that makes sense. The second had the same look to me.

I had a few that looked a little odd when I candled, but then I realized it was either the writing, dirt etc on the shell. Could that be the case here?

Very possible! With me being a newbie to incubating and candling, a lot could be my lack of experience lol! I’m making guesses based off of the article I read and your candling videos!!! Thankfully it’s still early enough I can throw them back in and check again when they should be more progressed.

I put them all back in. I figure I’ll check again closer to lock down and make my final decision then
I rarely toss eggs before day 18, unless they're obviously clear. You could also smell the egg to see if it smells rotten. I've done that with a few eggs and the odor is pretty noticeable if they've gone bad.

oooh smart! I think we will see what they look like closer to lock down and smell if I need too! Or maybe I can make my boys do that part for me hahah

Word of advice; don't toss them in the house if they are bad, you won't get the smell out for days.
